Karneval

Germans celebrate the beginning of Lent with a 5 day holiday called Karneval with ground zero of the festivities in Cologne and Düsseldorf. It's a bit of mish-mash of Halloween, Fat Tuesday, and Vegas with a nice parade to top it off. From Halloween, comes costumes and candy; from Fat Tuesday comes the pre-Lent partying in the streets; and from Vegas comes the total disregard for morals (many marriages are unofficially annulled for the celebrations) - "What happens in Cologne..."

Anyhow, here are some of the politically charged floats from the Karneval Parade:
